GreenWoods “WHITE PEARLS”
Quality Lipizzaner with a history

Greenwoods Stud houses some of the finest Lipizzaner horses, originating from one of the world's oldest [ anno 1374] stud farms, "Djakovo".
Djakovo, at that time part of the Habsburg territory , now part of Croatia, breeds with the Lipizzaner horses, which were evacuated in 1805 from Lipica because of the Napoleonic war.
Since the 16th century the Lipizzaner horses were used as a war horse and later as the parade and show horse "par excellence", for the Habsburg monarchy and later for other monarchies and nobility in general.
Since 1590 the Vienna based baroque Spanish Riding School uses Lipizzaner stallions for their classical styled dressage.
These horses excell as well in both circus dressage and in front of a carriage.
During the 1994 Balkan War the Djakovo Stud Farm was besieged and it was decided that some of their best Lipizzaner horses would be evacuated to GreenWoods Stud.
This was in order to protect the fruits of dedicated breeding for generations, since many Lipizzaners were shot during this Balkan War, with the objective to demoralise the population who consider this breed as part of their cultural heritage.
The transport of the "White Pearls" attracted a lot of public attention, since the transport was hindered by international bureaucracy because of the tense atmosphere at the time.
The "White Pearls" of GreenWoods Stud, which are for sale, all have pedigree of over 300 years. The horses can be seen near Nice in France and shipped world wide at reasonable costs.
